A discarded idea for a 'Q' logomark for a recent design job. Maybe not this 'Q' but I think this approach could work for something else down the line.
Happy Friday listening. A classic house track re-touched by Midnight Society.
Great photography book I got about 10 years ago at HUF in SF. 'Stoopz' by Ari Marcopoulus. The images speak a raw and unfiltered aesthetic language that documents skateboarding in NY during the early 90's. The style is something that now is often referenced but the beauty comes from the authenticity which can't be replicated, and it was shot by Ari...That said if you can find it, it's dope book to have around to pull some ideas from.
Some recent graphics work for Wellness in Progress (WIP). The client wanted me to have some fun with a graphics pack and so when I started thinking about a theme and/or direction to go down there were a couple of ways to do it. Given the name of the brand, I chose to explore and emphasize 'progress' and what that could look like graphically with regards to wellness. Once I set that direction, there were tons of fun graphic ideas to try explore. See the finished bumper stickers on slide 9 of my studio/projects page.
How good's that logo. It really sums up early 90's sexy sheek nostalgia. Those stretched out rounded letter forms...dripping with subtle but distinct elegance and character. Founded by a couple of Canadians and launched in 1984 from a department store counter in Toronto. The brand was way ahead of it's time, from branding, campaigns, photography, packaging and even store build outs. Haven't dug deep enough to find out who's responsible for the branding but shout out to them, nailed it.
The official trailer and more premeir dates from the homie Ben Gulliver's 'Hail Mary' feature film on Balaram Stack. Gully if you're reading this you did it dude! Congrats boys. When's our local premier though!? Film score also by Ben. LFG!
